(Warning: You may find this video disturbing if fight scenes bother you.  The audio message is powerful and inspiring if you can manage to listen without watching the footage)

” Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  We ask ourselves “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?”.  Actually, who are you not to be?  We were born to make manifest, the glory of God that is within us.  As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

We all have abilities.  Powers that make us shine.  Qualities that make us brilliant beyond belief.  We are meant to SHINE.  And not only are we meant to shine, but we are meant to revel in our brilliance.  To share it with others, spreading our light in the face of FEAR. Fear that no one will like us if we shine too bright, or stand out from the crowd.  Fear of disapproval for wanting to be fabulous.

“Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.”

“We are all meant to shine as children do”.

“It’s not just in some of us, it’s in EVERYONE.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

We don’t have to move mountains, shift the earth, or shout out from the rooftops that we have done something truly amazing today.  We ARE amazing…..together, and on our own.  I want my girls to know this.  I want them to understand the power that is deep within them, stripped of fear and a willingness to let their strengths shine through.

“The stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds, and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own.”-Mary Oliver

THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE……..release the fear and shine that fabulous light!!!

Brilliant!!!!! You know Gracee and I had this conversation some time ago because she has such a hard time when we celebrate her achievements…she is almost embarrassed about them and always tries to downplay her abilities. I told her to never. ever. be ashamed to share her talents because they are the talents that God hand picked for her and to never be upset if someone has a different talent than she does. It is what makes the world a lovely place to be. We are such funny creatures, we have the ability to create and share and yet we tend to keep it all boxed up inside of us because we are afraid of what someone might think of us. C.S. Lewis said something to this effect…We are willing to stay in our own tiny comfortable mud puddle because we have never gone beyond our fears to ventured out to see the vast ocean (not an exact quote but the meaning is the same). I truly. truly. loved this!!!!

Ah Joy, so glad to hear it. It’s nice to see kids in their humble state but as you say…it is our job to encourage them to shine and to feel ok about it!! It can be hard at times but the best thing we can do is to lead by example (ok….in fact it is very hard!) and as long as our intention is good then the rest will follow! I love your C.S. Lewis quote…..perfect!!

What wonderful quotes and inspirations! We are often afraid to embrace the truth that we are in fact fearfully and wonderfully made. It is a good reminder to us all that we need to spread our light in the face of fear. Thank you for sharing! And thank you for stopping by my blog today and leaving a sweet comment :)
